This spring, there is only one thing on the minds on any kid after a fantastic new games console. Parents harbouring children with an April birthday beware, as this is the month that sees the launch of the Nintendo DSi Consoles. The long awaited 3rd edition in the Nintendo DS series, the DSi is the first console of its type to be able to capture and store photos.
A mutant of the previous DS consoles, the Nintendo DSi has gained features and slimmed down to become a special gaming tool. Two DSi cameras now act as headlights on the rear of the console, and although only measuring at 0.3 mega-pixels, are more than capable of keeping you entertained when you don’t have your camera at hand.
Nintendo has also been listening hard to its hardcore fans and has made reactive changes to the DSi specifications. Following the size 0 trend, the DSi is 22% thinner than the previous edition, losing 2.6 mm. It also has become slightly longer due to the incremental increase in the size of the LCD screen. The sacrifice required for a more ultimate gaming experience unfortunately. It has also shed weight due to the removal of the gameboy port, which has now been deemed redundant.
One DSi specification that has remained similar are the battery life – which still stands at between 9-14 hours, enough to keep you entertained on a flight from London to New York. Other introductions are a small microphone and the ability to store photos, music and videos, making this the most interactive DS that we have ever seen.
